Worked with Dowco — a long-standing Vancouver real estate developer — on brand and project marketing for their residential portfolio.
dowco.comEstablished in 1970, Dowco is one of the world's largest steel detailing firms — having produced fabrication-ready detailing for Google, Amazon, NASA, One World Trade Center, the Gates Foundation, and Mercedes-Benz. From the Vancouver head office and global delivery teams, Dowco produces tens of thousands of shop drawings a year for projects ranging from data centres to iconic supertall towers. Evolve led a comprehensive brand refresh and digital rebuild that carries five decades of engineering credibility into the next generation of enterprise construction conversations.
A 50-year-old engineering firm with extraordinary project credentials needed a brand that read as modern and innovative without losing the calm authority that wins enterprise work. The audiences are unusual: general contractors evaluating detailers on precision and error rates, fabricators evaluating on file quality and revision discipline, and owner-side project managers evaluating on legacy — a category where 'newer' can read as 'less safe.' The brand had to speak to all three without over-designing the message.
Hundreds of hours of discovery — inside the office, on job sites, and in conversation with long-standing clients — went into understanding what actually made Dowco different. The answer wasn't a technology stack or a scale story: it was the innovative spirit of every staff member and a culture that treats detailing errors as an operational sin, not a rounding error. We slightly repositioned the existing tagline to 'If you want to see the future of construction, watch Dowco.' The identity mark was developed on a strict grid system inspired by structural steel connections, and every downstream brand application — proposal templates, business cards, web, film — is governed by the same grid so the brand assembles like the discipline it represents.
A modernized brand and digital platform that carries Dowco's heritage into the next generation of enterprise construction conversations. Proposal response quality (measured by short-list conversion) improved in the year following the launch, and the new brand system has scaled cleanly across international office openings and joint-venture co-branding.

Established in 1970, Dowco’s history, heritage, and ongoing success can be explained simply – at the Dowco Group they believe in our services and products. As one of the world’s largest steel detailers, the company has built with the following brands: Google, Amazon, NASA, One World Trade Center, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Mercedes-Benz, and many others.
Dowco required a new look and feel, and a new brand heartbeat. We started at the core, researching the companies history since it’s inception in the 70’s. Hundreds of collective hours were poured into understanding what made the company special, and what truly made the brand different against the competition. It was the innovative spirit of each and every staff member. There was no culture… There was a spirit. And this shone in each and every one of Dowco’s unique solutions to incredibly complex challenges. ‘Some say it can’t be done, we think differently.’ Their tagline said it all, and we slightly repositioned the tag to say ‘If you want to see the future of construction, watch Dowco.’
The Dowco icon was developed within a grid system that must always be present in the representation of the brand. The logo below, (‘Fig. 1’) design grid showcases the grid, and the dimensions of the mark.
