rtohomes.comRTO Homes is a rent-to-own housing platform helping Canadian families build a legitimate path to home ownership when traditional mortgage qualification is out of reach. Evolve was commissioned to build the name, the brand, the go-to-market strategy, and the public-facing platform — reframing a category that has historically been associated with predatory operators into one that reads as safe, transparent, and family-first.
The company had operated as 'Vancouver Rent to Own' for years — a name that limited them geographically and inherited category baggage. Rent-to-own as a category is misunderstood at best and mistrusted at worst; consumers associate it with high-interest furniture and appliance leasing rather than a legitimate housing pathway. A national brand had to signal safety and credibility on the first impression, hold up under scrutiny from mortgage brokers and lenders, and give families the confidence to take the first meeting.
We developed the new name, the visual identity, the positioning ('a path to ownership, not a substitute for it'), the mission statement, the website, and the customer journey — from first search through qualification, monthly payment, and eventual mortgage handoff. Photography leaned into ordinary Canadian family homes rather than aspirational real estate glossies. Copy explains the mechanics plainly, up front, without the qualifying-language wall most financial services companies hide behind. The go-to-market plan sequenced brand launch, broker education, and paid acquisition in that order — brand first, so downstream trust was already established.
A platform positioned for national rollout with a clearer story for families, lenders, brokers, and referral partners. First-year applications ran materially ahead of the original 'Vancouver Rent to Own' business's peak volumes, and the platform has since expanded into additional provincial markets.

RTO Homes is a company that has evolved over the years since 1997. For the past several years, the moniker Vancouver Rent to Own was used. The company required a brand refresh and corporate identity that was strong in the marketplace.
