CMS Market Share 2025: WordPress Still Dominant, But Cracks Show
WordPress powers ~43% of all websites, but Webflow, Shopify and headless platforms are taking the highest-value segments.

The numbers
W3Techs' early 2025 data: WordPress 43.4% of all sites, Shopify 4.6%, Wix 3.8%, Squarespace 3.0%, Webflow 1.0%. Among sites with measurable traffic and budget, however, Shopify, Webflow and headless stacks over-index dramatically.
Where each platform actually wins
WordPress still dominates SMB content. Shopify owns commerce. Webflow leads premium marketing sites. Headless (Sanity, Contentful, Storyblok) wins multi-channel enterprise. Squarespace and Wix lead self-serve.
The decision rule
Choose a CMS by who is editing tomorrow, not by feature list. A great CMS used badly always loses to a good CMS used well.
