INP is the new LCP

Google replaced First Input Delay with Interaction to Next Paint (INP) in March 2024. INP measures the full latency of every interaction across a page's lifetime — a much harsher and more honest signal than FID. Optimizing INP forces teams to think hard about long tasks, hydration cost, and main-thread work.

Edge + streaming is the new default

Frameworks like Next.js, TanStack Start, Astro, and Remix have made edge rendering and streaming SSR table stakes. The combination of geographic proximity and incremental HTML delivery routinely cuts time-to-content by 40-70% versus traditional server rendering.
